This player is Rockchip based, the file format must be .avi, the aviconverter software should work ok.

File Format error suggests the wrong resolution has been selected when doing the conversion, try 320x240, this should work I think for this screen size.
Did you have a sample video on the player?, if so check its resolution just to be sure.

Occasionally some videos just won't work for some reason, maybe because of some small defect in the file, so you might like try a different video clip.
