Teclast M25

This new player from Teclast will use the new RK2706 solution and a GUI similar to the new iPod Nano and Classics. Teclast M25 will be dual-cored with a WOLFSON WM8987G as well.

From the screen shot it kinda reminds me of apple's new players that have the menu on the left and an image "album art" on the right.

Woah!

That's hot. The UI is sweet.

Does anyone know if RK2706 solution will be expensive?

If it keeps with tradition like the older chipsets, it shouldn't be that much more expensive.

Really hate this "dual core" marketing BS... Two chips doing different jobs is not dual core!!!

Multi-core (computing) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"A dual-core processor is a single chip that contains two distinct processors or execution cores in the same integrated circuit."

Well, you know, sometimes the translation from Chinese doesn't come out completely accurate. It's best, when reading Chinese translations, to get the main idea and leave it at that. Don't expect rigorous definitions to be mirrored perfectly, it'll never happen.

It's nothing to do with translations from Chinese... Most resellers in the West makes this "dual core" claim about the T39 to make it sounds like the latest technology (like Intel Core Duo processors).

I'm just pointing out the true meaning of the phrase in the hope that people will stop mis-using it.

I think they're just repeating the Chinese translation, not deliberately trying to mislead people. Most people wouldn't know or care what 'dual core' meant even if it were true, so it wouldn't necessarily be a major selling point anyway. All it's trying to convey is that sound processing is handled seperately by a dedicated chip, which is in fact superior to doing it via the CPU in software. This information is valuable to the consumer and should be conveyed somehow. Just because the terminology is not accurate from a high-level technical-engineering point of view doesn't really make a difference to the general public because they wouldn't understand it anyway.

Basically what i'm saying is there is real information being conveyed here, not in a technically accurate form but at least in a way that an intelligent person could comprehend what is being said and appreciate its implications.

Whenever there is a language barrier, the way to facilitate communication is to look beyond the words to the meaning behind them. If everyone insisted on maintaining rigorous use of terms across different languages communication would drop to terribly inefficient levels.

Well at least their not trying to lie to us about the definition, or trying to say that their definition of dual core is the same as ours. There clearly stating their own definition of dual core, Which is two "CHIPSETS" working together to accomplish one goal. In this case the goal is producing audio and video. And really their translation is better then ours, dual means two so dual core should really be two chips working together as opposed to our that is one chip working as two.
