Differences in rebrands..

So I've been looking at this:

BLUtouch 4GB

recently as my next Mp3 player. I've been wanting something with video and picture support, and this came up as a great choice.

HOWEVER, there was very little info on it, so after a LONG search, I finally stumbled in on the T39 thanks to extensive efforts.

However, aside from color, I don't think I quite understand the differences between these players! They both look nearly identical, except the mobiblu has SD support rather than 8 gigs. I'm wondering if there are any mechanical differences anyone here could tell me about, and if I could use the T39 firmware on the BLUtouch.

Why dose the Pasen rebrand seem MUCH MUCH more responsive then the original? Is this a software thing or hardware? And which would be more similar to the Mobiblu?

This MP4 Player seems worth my time, so thank you for helping me out.

I'm pretty sure the BLUtouch is a Rockchip player, the SD slot seems to give them away and apart from a large skinning and software community, they are inferior imo (can already feel the flames licking at my heels for that).

Both the touchmusic and the original teclast T39 are classed as dual chip players, although they have about 5 processing chips in them, the main two are the TCC8200 and a dedicated wolfson for audio (awesome sound).

The firmwares are not interchangeable but you can re-theme (I think it's a word) both of them with their own software.

The response time on the touchmusic is actually down to the Pasen fw.

I got my touchmusic just before Christmas and I have been planning to come here and write a proper review for it as well as plug the guy I got it from, he really was amazingly helpful.

I'm just waiting for a silicone skin to get delivered before I'm gonna post my own review, which will make more sense when I put it in context, but I have a few bits and pieces about the whole T39 range in general, that could really make a difference to someone.

Hope there was something there that helped.

Forevernomad,

The Pasen Touchmusic is absolutely 100% firmware interchangeable with the Teclast T39 official firmware.
(I test every player before shipping)

If anyone else has the Pasen Touchmusic and has loaded Teclast T39 firmware, please please back me up here.

Forevernomad , Please email or PM me and I can walk you through the process of getting the Pasen to accept Teclast firmware.

Btw, the Pasen Touchmusic seems to have the newest/newer firmware. The T39 in the video has a old firmware, as the video is old. The older firmware is a lot less responsive it seems.

You said the pasen looked more responsive in the video, it is, I've tried the newest fw for both the Pasen(1.28) and T39(1.29), the Pasen is faster.

I'll let you all know about the case when it comes.

Smartie. When I made this name manyy years ago, it was made from a combo of Megaman (+an O) and I was thinking of 007.

But of course, I didn't want want to copy 007, so it's 009

Anwyay, I assume then since the machines are exactly the same, it's the firmware that matters.

And Nomad, Where did you get the case FROM?

I'm wondering if I can use something else as a case... Like getting the backsides of normal ipod skins and cutting holes >:0

The firmware is almost identical, the Pasen is more responsive and the note function defaults to Italian characters not Chinese when it doesn't get what you wrote.

So a case is a big issue here. hint: iriver Clix gen 2 ;D Size comparison

I'm working on a guide for skinning the theme, as there are nearly 400 different images in the theme file.
It's a bit of a nightmare to figure out what they are all for. Though there are already a few goods ones already posted in this site if you need to look.

But if anyone is interested I figured out how to get rid of the main menu text so it only has the icons on it.
