For you information community of Cowon D2 or iAudio D2 is as enthusiastic as it is Meizu community which IMHO is the most enthusiastic I know, together with MyMPxPlayer devoted to Actions players, but more than former Teclast (now MP4Users). Take a look here iAudiophile Forum.

This is due to the capabilities of Cowon D2 to use skin, themes and recently a skin based on Flash. Of course beside of the natural problems of any player when it comes to upgrade of firmwares or understanding of its functions.
I have no idea about iRiver stuff but I think this this must be almost the same, as some late models of iRiver supports skinning too.

You have to know that Cowon D2 despite of being manufactured based on Korea it's a Chinese player, with a configuration similar to Teclast T39 but using later chips, both are Telechips + Wolfson. Due to this Cowon D2 is more expensive but its performance is by far more advanced than other players in the same level. Only its capability of display millions instead of thousands colours makes a difference and also is the amount of formats managed by this player.

No idea about Samsung or other brand you mentioned but these aren't players with extra functionalities, these are just players like it is iPod. I know they have skinning but is made thru hacking and not as a formal capability of the player, I know that Meizu and Cowon do this, recently I've told of iRiver Clio. Only this ability create a huge community that shares its knowledge and works.

I know that the t39 has skinning as well. Iv been on the cowon forums but kinda of inactive if you ask me but eh.

Can't wait to get my Teclast T39 xD It was a long time ago I had a Teclast player (C280 which impressed me with it's sound but disappointed me with it's GUI being ugly and slow and it's browsing sucked, I don't like rockchip >_>) I really liked the T29, so I will probably like the T39 as well.

Of course a lot of Japanese and Korean electronics are made in China but the difference they're not designed there, and must meet higher standards.

The Samsung has a 480x272 widescreen and Bluetooth... Can you imagine a Teclast adding these and being able to sell for less???

It will be interesting to see how good the Meizu M8 is when it comes out... Can the chinese design and build something so complex (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc) and make it work???

I have a few weeks now with the new Pasen/Teclast T39 8GB the only 8GB T39 available anywhere, even Teclast doent have one yet. And Pasen seemed to fix all the bugs that Teclast had in its T39 4GB's. No more loose insides, no more bugs, all original Teclast insideds indclucing the Telechip and Wolfinson sound chip. It rocks, it beautiful, powerful and the video runs so smooth.... The firmware upgrades are so easy that I keep changing different themes every week and now sporting the Vista theme on it and it looks so cool! Pasen touchmusic 8GB is the way right now for an original Teclast T39! oh and Futuredaps com has it for a total of $163.
