This might be silly, but, can anyone describe how the dictionnary function work? What languages does it support? Is it reasonably complete?

As yet, it doesn't do anything. Maybe soon.

The interface is basically 5 rows of 1 each with buttons to shift the list up or down by 5 at a time. The top button is the folder up button. It has a bookmark function, which isn't quite as good as a playlist, since you can bookmark a playing song and manage bookmarks with add/delete/delete all, but you can't tell it to play all your bookmarks, only one at a time (goes to the next song in the filelist , not the bookmark list).

The LED indicator - I'm not quite sure what it indicates, it seems to indicate that its doing something when after the screen has gone to sleep. So if it s playing music, the LED will flash briefly 30 seconds after its display has switched off.

In terms of speed of browsing, its delay is hardly noticeable. If I had to scroll through a big list big tapping as fast I could, it would keep up with me up to about 5 times a second, then I'm having trouble counting.

so that means no fluent file browsing but just screen by screen?
is there anyway to scroll through the files by pressing somewhere and seeing the songs fly by on screen?

No fluent scrolling, but I realise that the bookmark function is a good way to store a location in a long flat list, to help you jump many pages at once.

Use folders of folders, there is no easy way to manage long flat lists.

Not to mention, in typical Teclast fashion, it slows the player to a crawl if one places too many files in a single folder.

Question: Why does Teclast not support any media library/database function?

Cool Media Library Issue

The Media Library problem comes in the FIRMWARE. Perhaps a new firmware will be created in the near future embedding a Media Library for the t39. But we should note that the t39 had got BOOKMARK function. In another word, you could bookmark your favourite songs so as you can get to them easily! Perhaps this is a great improvement!

Actually, the dictionary function is just for Chinese users wanting to learn English.

If you set your language to Chinese, you have a dictionary. I haven't worked it out yet, maybe someone who knows both languages well could comment.

I agree...i also think a bookmark function isnt nearly as handy as a well made media library...

sure a bookmark function makes it easy to find songs you like and already bookmarked but i like to find all my files easily and fast in a few seconds

i' ve bought the 8 gb t39 from futuredaps.com and so far i'm quite
impressed (compared to my meizu m6). summary (Firmware 0.98):

accurate control via touchscreen
smooth video-playback (25 fps, 350 kbps without any interruptions
and no a/v-sync problem, converted with virtualdub)
crossfade of songs
adjustable shutdown-timer
good built-in speaker (very nice addition)
precise built-in clock (the clock in the meizu m6
is horribly slow)
playing music while viewing photos
or reading text
separate bookmarks for text, video, music and photos.
very short start-up time (2-3 seconds).

let's see how well it performs in everyday use over a couple of days.
