The firmware file is *.rfw but in your archive isnt this file just .rom and .bin.

I just received my T39 (8gb), and my initial impressions are very favorable as well...

I am curious as to why TECLAST chose not to support OGG on this player though... Hmmm?

Note: Full Review Pending

What put me off in the T29 for example is the fact that file browsing was slow and inconvenient compared to for example the M6 or Ipod

How fast and easy is browsing your music with the touchscreen of the T39?

ps: the indicator LED on the front...what does it indicate?
The file browsing could possibly be a little better, but its not too difficult. It still relies on you putting the files in folders and subfolders yourself. The interface is basically 5 rows of 1 each with buttons to shift the list up or down by 5 at a time. The top button is the folder up button. It has a bookmark function, which isn't quite as good as a playlist, since you can bookmark a playing song and manage bookmarks with add/delete/delete all, but you can't tell it to play all your bookmarks, only one at a time (goes to the next song in the filelist , not the bookmark list).

The LED indicator - I'm not quite sure what it indicates, it seems to indicate that its doing something when after the screen has gone to sleep. So if it s playing music, the LED will flash briefly 30 seconds after its display has switched off.

In terms of speed of browsing, its delay is hardly noticeable. If I had to scroll through a big list big tapping as fast I could, it would keep up with me up to about 5 times a second, then I'm having trouble counting.

The firmware is the .rom and .bin files - you just place them both into the root of the flash drive space (in the same directory as the mp3, Video folders).

Then reboot your machine, maybe twice - it will automatically upgrade the firmware and then delete these 2 files from your flash drive space.

I would recommend making sure the battery is near full to do a firmware upgrade.

Oh, and for those who are used to having their space reformatted after an upgrade, the T39 doesn't do that, you still have everything you put on there before upgrading.

I’m currently testing my T39 in preparation for a full review, and have discovered something rather alarming…

The player, even when moved slightly, appears to have something loose inside… i.e. there’s a distinct ‘rattling’ of internal components.

Has anyone else noticed this, or did I simply have a ‘defective’ unit?

By The Way...

The T39 does support OGG... Yipeee!

Why it's not listed as such is a mystery...

The initial battery run-down test don't coincide with TECLAST's claims... AT ALL!

1st test - 11.5 Hours - Music Playback (Random/EQ Setting - Flat)

Protecting the t39

A small bag to hold the player will be available; not sure if a protective case is accompanied with the package.
