Oppo just added the s9 to their lineup:
S9
Here is the PCOnline article, also hosted on Oppo's website:
PCOnline's look at the S9
Retail is 599 RMB/2G and 699 RMB/4G. Pretty steep. The S9 looks like a blue and white version of the V9...with the V9, V15, and now S9, Oppo is getting a lot of mileage out of this design. Something that really cheapens this series of players is the crappy-looking plastic (white on the S9, orange on the V9) they used running around the edge separating the top and bottom sections.
There's no mention of a Wolfson DAC here, just the latest Rockchip 2700-series. Oppo took pains to point out the Wolfson 8987 in the V9 and the 8750 in the V15, so it would be a bit of a let-down if this latest player only relies on the Rockchip. The overall pitch on the S9 seems to be all the effort Oppo put into the UI...uh, OK, thanks for that. Granted it is cheaper than the V9 and I noticed they added OGG and AAC support.
Hmm, I wonder if I need to vote again in the "Oppo: Overpriced Junk?" thread.
