With all the new releases from the other manufacturers at much lower prices and similar (sometimes better) functions, I really feel that oppo is going to loose a lot of market share in China.

The only thing I really like about them is their superior build quality (on par with Meizu).

What do you think about the future of oppo?

Oppo is doing really well with the V9...I've seen lots of them going over the counters at the malls. With the expansion slot in that model, they can get away with being a little overpriced. Also they move more, so discounts are more generous. With Rockchip and Ingenic stepping up, they ought to ditch the ADI Blackfin and lower the price on the S5. It's a really solidly built player, but MSRP should be 100-200 RMB lower.

Oppo does seem to have a pretty high opinion of themselves and, in the case of their upscaling DVD players, probably deserves it. But those DVD players aren't sold in China and the MP3/MP4 market is so crowded with interesting alternatives that you really need something fantabulous to rise above...Oppo doesn't have it.

They are spending lots of money on mainstream advertising (ie. TV) which should serve to drive prices up, while others are using more modern, interactive means of advertising (ie. ONDA with Jay Chou or Meizu with their many public events, contests).

I agree that the prices should at least be 100-200 CNY cheaper. The 4GB S5 retails for 999 CNY, while new 4GB players from retail go for 599-699. I don't think anything the S5 has to offer justifies the extra 300-400 CNY.

To be honest, you can check how many productions MEIZU had been invented in the last two years? Only M6 and M3, MEIZU had focus on the market of mobie phone. Now OPPO is keeping doing MP4, like "SMART" S9, S11... Although OPPO spends money on mainstream advertising. But the prices is not more expensive than MEIZU(ie.: OPPO DL29 RMB￥350 2G, MEIZU M3 RMB￥350 2G).

OPPO and MEIZU are different. I like OPPO and MEIZU. They all produces good MP3,MP4~~
