I think I am the other 1%,because i did like you said i tured off the mp4, then i pressed the M key and then i connected the USB, and nothing happens, i even tried to open the consumer update myself and update it, and it still doesn't regognize my mp4.
Does it have to be something with the windows, a newer vers of XP, or Vista?

I'm preparing for you a detailed procedure... just open your case by nails... it's closed by hand tightly pressed... then must be open by hand too... or use a hard silicone piece... not an iron one... you must insert your nails under a plastic black ribbon... the case is of metal where are written Onda logo... that is the movable part... not the black plastic ribbon. What I suggest you is to not damage the case.

Unfortunately when it's applied LE firmware over a non-LE all keyboard mapping changes, including those three buttons. VOLUME + / - and MENU. That's why MENU / USB plug doesn't work.

Solution: take thing with calm and without any hurry... open case carefully... by nails... don't use any tool in order to not damage it... be patient... you have spent lots of time dealing with your error... there is no need to do thing faster now... this is a safe procedure and always work.

When opened... search for flash memory it should be the longest chip (here you have VX858, VX858LE and VX878 opened VX858 VX858LE VX878 yours must look like the upper player.

There are 3 big chips: the square one is Rockhip (do not touch it!!) and two rectangular one with pins on long border which is BIOS chip (Hynix) and one that has the chip in the narrow border which is flash memory (Samsung)... you'll work on this chip!!. There should be also a small square one which is Wolfson chip. Here the picture of your player .

You must have an iron clip to do the short-circuit procedure.

With the player switched ON and USB cable plugged IN... and PC loudspeaker ON to listen the sound signal... run softly but firmly the round border of the clip along the pins of flash memory Samsung. It will make the screen go on and OFF... that's normal... try both sides of Samsung chip... until you hear the sound signal of the PC announcing that there is a connection. It will show "rockusb" device on try icon

Install firmware for VX858 non LE, any version... later you can try other non LE versions.

Good luck!!

Thanks alot for the help DaremoS, i was still hoping not to jumpstart it, but if U also said that the software recovery is not possible I gues this is the only solution.Still I wonder if i take it to the warranty people if they will be able to help me,because the last time they gave me a brand new one, last week i had some headphone trouble and i went over there to fix it, so I wonder if they will help me again, because by opening it i will risk the losing of the warranty. But if they do not cover the software warranty then i will have to do it myself, at least i know there is a way.

Must I have the original firmware from the MP4 player because i have the vers 0.0.8 and 0.0.16 and 0.0.17?
please help.thank you
Sleepy. Do as 00christian00 said but first go into device manager and uninstall the hardware for the player. Thats what worked for me when I installed the wrong firmware and killed mine.
