ONDA VX989+ = meh.

I recently began liking ONDA very much because they have released several nice players; VX858, VX878 and VX979 Black Titanium.

I got really excited when they announced a new player, the VX989+. It turns out that the only new feature this new player has is support for RealMedia files .RM and .RMVB. No one even uses those formats outside of China.

Please release a more interesting product soon, ONDA!

Well, don't forget that ONDA is a Chinese brand and their products are geared towards the Chinese market only.

Onda, like Teclast, despite that are focused in Chinese market, seems to be the companies that sells more non-branded players being a branded one.

I do own two players that aren't originals but run the firmware without problems, Onda and Teclast.

This create a very strange situation as both brands deliver frequently updates for their firmware, which is different than other Chinese brands: owners of non-branded players have to deal with Chinese forums looking for new versions.

In this aspect, this fansite, will cover that lack of news, I hope some Chinese speakers like Wang2k who I've seen in Chinese Teclast forum, helps us with news in Onda too

Yeah DaremoS, that's an interesting point. Even though the actual brands create products for the Chinese market, a large portion of their sales are to overseas by rebranded versions. Therefore they should create products with the entire world in mind, not only China!

By the way: It seems that this player is already rebranded by Pasen and called the LAZYBUM. I don't like the name.

Sound like a stripper

I forgot to mention that a Onda VX858 and a Teclast C260, called "bigbusted" and "red hair honey"

I speak for the Pasen brand,Error know me.
The name lazybum is actually an english word, mean someone very lazy to do anything, and it's explained why.
It was just a provocation to draw more attention, and by the way we didn't have any idea how to call it haha.i don't like much name without meanings.
Why so much trouble with the rm and rmvb,it's not the only format supported there is also avi, with divx/xvid,so the more the better, right?
The limit of the player is not much in the resolution but in the bitrate, that require higher computing power.
Honestly speaking the ADI solution is a little more powerful, but also much more expensive at our side thus reflect on a higher retail price.

ADI BF533 solution is the hardware used in the ainol v2000,gemei x750-760,oppo s5 jxd 301(or something like that).
While the hardware used in the onda is chinese the adi is american so with obvious different costs.
That's what is inside the 989+ :
Ingenic Semiconductor Co.,Ltd.【JZ4740】

This would be the same as Wolfson and Philips that aren't Chinese either, but used in Meizu Onda and Teclast players
