Talking C290 firmware

Hi,

I just upgraded a C290 sucessfully. It is done EXACTLY like the other C series players. One thing that might be hanging you up, is a bug in the recent consumer update programs.

1. When you load the C290 firmware file, make sure all the data gets filled in -> Version, FWdate, Manufacturer. If all the data does not get filled in, the player will not do the update.

One trick I use to get the file to load in consumer update is, rename the file to TL-C290.rfw only
The shorter name helps it load in the program. Also make sure the file is not in multiple sub directories in your PC. Try putting the TL-C290.rfw file ONLY in the first or second level PC folder. This also helps the consumer update program see it.

2. If the program cannot find the player itself, this is a different problem. This usually means you have to install the rockchip driver (universal for all rockchip players). You can find how to do this in any of the C260 or C280 firmware upgrade procedures in this forum.

Let me know if you have any luck now.

updating is not to difficult,

Just go to settings, navigate to second last and choose update, select yet, connect to computer.

Now you should have installed on your computer a consumer update firmware:
Google for the version: v01.09.0012 Havent found anything higher. Download it from some chinese site (bablefish from altavista and then translate website ) comes into handyhere.

run the consumer app, choose the firmware and load. It might seem to hang, it just takes a while, be patient.

Furthermore, if you have difficulties with getting a connection, or the firmware errors out even before trying to flash, get another firmware, and search for the consumer update firmware programme that came with the v01.09.0012.

You might also want to manually add the rockusb device throught add hardware in control panel. if you have any other difficulties in getting you usb recognized. Lol
