I'm not sure I follow. So the way I did it, using the consumer update program that comes on a CD with the mp3 player, is the wrong way to update the firmware? Instead, I should copy the contents of the package to the main directory of the player?

ok you can do it one of two way through the player goto format/upgrade option and it will format then once its done formatting push the reset button with a pen or something sharp then on your computer the directory will pop up remember there are none of your files there since you formatted so then get the firmware files and stick it in the main directory once they are there reset it again if it says upgrading you have done this correctley and then wait for it to finish and there you go......

or you can do it through the upgrade program that comes on disk just fallow instructions and there you go....

It's Straight forward.

Get the Firmware update program of the cd.

On the player go to the settings screen then find the update firmware i think its under about.

then it will ask you to connect the usb cable do that and then windows will come up with wanting to find the right driver this should be the rockchip driver or something that can be found on the net for windows xp.

Then run the firmware program load the file into it then update it takes around 1-2mins to do. yes it will clear everything but thats cause it needs to.

Yup, this is how I did it and not only do games not work, but certain MP3s no longer play for seemingly no reason.

"reset button"?

That sounds like a different player.

The only problem with this firmware is the loading screen is a lot slower. That seems weird. :S

I updated today.

The button response is much better both playing Music files and Video. I have yet to test the games or radio.

The player starts slow, and loads the boot screen slow. Once loaded the player acts fine. Theres also an issue I'm seeing when turning the player on, I press the power button on top (unit switched on) and get a flash from the sensors. At this point I would stop pressing the button before, if I do that now it will not power up, I have to hold the button a bit longer, but not to long. If I hold it to long it fails to power up.

Anyone else getting this?
