Darkolite,

Check out the first page of this thread and it is the firmware that CruisinMusic attached. I believe it is 1.8.xxxx version. Try it. I have a question, when you startup the unit, do you see the Teclast Logo and "www.teclast.com" on the startup screen? That's how you know Teclast firmware updates will work with your unit. If you don't see the Teclast logo and "www.teclast.com" on the startup, I will not even bother upgrading the firmware.

Remember this is a Teclast forum.

I upgrade it in V01.09.0004, same problem : no sound.
I upgrade it in V01.07.0008 : can't access to the memory

Did you find a solution ?
Yes, I bought a sony nw-a806 and I enjoy it every day.

More seriously, I have no clue how to fix those problems.

I don't know for Darkolite so I won't speak for him, but I have the logo of Teclast and "www.teclast.com" with all the firmware I tried.

And with the latest firmware I can change the language and keep it, unable to do this with the others firmwares even with the one provided on the CD with the player.

BTW, I had to rename this file to use (for example c280.rfw) it and it was a very old version from the beginning of the year.

I also can put images, mp3, and use it as a removable drive, but when it comes to playback music, radio, nothing just a background buzzing noise.

So the zazz x-line is actually a Teclast C280 no doubt about it.

berlinois,

I confirm, same problems with my C280 (NEO zazz evolution x line 8 Giga), I do have the logo Teclast and www.teclast.com, everything is fine, except the sound !!!

So, I am trying to get in touch with someone in NEO compagny, which is not easy. I called them, a guy told me that they (probably) will have the european firmware this friday (this one should show a NEO logo at start up). So I'll try to get it, and I will post it here.
(neo web site is not up to date, no firmware at all)

Et oui c'est la croix et la bannière pour obtenir une réponse.

Mais vu que nous sommes sur un forum de langue anglaise, pour les lecteurs ne comprenant pas le français je continue en anglais (pauvre certes mais j'espère compréhensible)

I know for NEO-Europe, they're unreachable, you had chance that someone reply to your calls.

As I said before, I send them about ten mails and now I think I'am on a black list and they even don't read my mails.

The site is for sure not updated and I think they won't update it for a long time.

Sad that no one from Teclast read the problem we have with the reseller in France.

I asked for a refund after I update with the firmware provided on the CD because now I have always the message System Init when I turn on the player. And the firmware is like the site, old and useless.

I bought a sony nw-a806, definitly a better choice with a excellent sound.

Post Neo 8GB C280

Hello,

I just confirmed with my supplier at the Teclast factory that there is no such thing as a C280 8GB. The Teclast factory does not manufacture an 8GB version of the C280. It is possible that this Neo company in France is doing some post production modifications to the C280 to enable an 8GB capacity. Although there is no reason why this shouldn't work fine, it makes this player incompatible with the official Teclast Firmware.

There is nothing wrong with buying rebranded versions of the Teclast, but if you plan on ever upgrading the firmware with the Teclast version, I suggest you buy from a seller that "firmware tests" the players with Teclast firmware prior to shipping. This way you let the seller take all the risks for you.

Also, I am sure if you can get a copy of this modified Neo Zazz firmware and do an update the same way as before, the player will be restored to normal.
Someone over there must be able to email you a copy of this modified firmware.

The player is provided with an old version of the teclast 1.007.xxxx firmware on the recovery CD.

That why I think its a teclast C280 but I am certainly wrong.

Different Firmware

Hold on a minute! I have an idea.......

These Neo players might have the new hardware in them as some of the ones I've got. They require both rfw files for the upgrade.

If you look at the newest 1.09 Teclast official firmware, you will see two files inside:

1. TL-C280(V01.09.0004).rfw
2. 补丁程序.rfw

Go through the standard upgrade procedure with #1. Then after the upgrade, place #2 in the root directory of player (like you are updating a T29/T39) and turn the player off and on again. Nothing will appear to happen after you start the player again.

Now see if sound and everything else are restored to normal.

Hi Skyports,

Thanks for help. It doesn't do anything to copy this file in the root. I look deeper, this file is a V01.08.0010.

I pretty sure now that our MP3 player is dedicated to the european market, and has its own firmware. If NEO compagny is professional, I should get the firmware friday.

Otherwise, I put their phone number online, and I suggest people in my situation to badger their phone line until they release it.

Quick question: Berlinois, can you play mp3 without sound ? Have have no sound because it doesn't want to play in mp3 mode, so this is normal that I can't hear something. On radio, I don't know, as there is no play button, I assume that it should play sound when auto mode is turn on, but it doesn't.

I can put files in the memory, but the player doesn't play them.

For the radio, I can tune but I have no sound. And on radio frequency (ie France-Info a 24/7 news radio) I have nothing.

I'll try to put the other on the root of the player.
edit : the second file *.rfw on the root of the player and nothing happened.
