| Yea I was really surprised nothing seemed to come of the new Actions chips. I have two different models, and while they are a huge improvement over the previous Actions players there are still bugs. MP3 recording for example, which was a very welcome improvement, doesn't really work on my players; there's a loud, steady, CLICK inserted that ruins the recordings.
I don't doubt that the new Rockchip is capable of amazing things. The problem, as usual, is firmware. The Chinese manufacturers just don't seem able, willing, or interested in making really outstanding firmware. The hardware is improving much, much faster, which is frustrating for us users because we'd like to see that hardware used to its fullest ability.
I'm still hopeful that some dramatic updates to the new 'mainstream' brand Chinese players will show what they're really capable of.... |
