Talking C290 firmware

Hi,

I just upgraded a C290 sucessfully. It is done EXACTLY like the other C series players. One thing that might be hanging you up, is a bug in the recent consumer update programs.

1. When you load the C290 firmware file, make sure all the data gets filled in -> Version, FWdate, Manufacturer. If all the data does not get filled in, the player will not do the update.

One trick I use to get the file to load in consumer update is, rename the file to TL-C290.rfw only
The shorter name helps it load in the program. Also make sure the file is not in multiple sub directories in your PC. Try putting the TL-C290.rfw file ONLY in the first or second level PC folder. This also helps the consumer update program see it.

2. If the program cannot find the player itself, this is a different problem. This usually means you have to install the rockchip driver (universal for all rockchip players). You can find how to do this in any of the C260 or C280 firmware upgrade procedures in this forum.

Let me know if you have any luck now.
