| Oppo is doing really well with the V9...I've seen lots of them going over the counters at the malls. With the expansion slot in that model, they can get away with being a little overpriced. Also they move more, so discounts are more generous. With Rockchip and Ingenic stepping up, they ought to ditch the ADI Blackfin and lower the price on the S5. It's a really solidly built player, but MSRP should be 100-200 RMB lower.
Oppo does seem to have a pretty high opinion of themselves and, in the case of their upscaling DVD players, probably deserves it. But those DVD players aren't sold in China and the MP3/MP4 market is so crowded with interesting alternatives that you really need something fantabulous to rise above...Oppo doesn't have it. |
