T39 A/V sync

Has anyone noticed that there is a A/V sync problem with the T39 ?

Its seems to have a small (measured around 1/4 of a second) constant delay on the audio compared to the video.

I have found a nasty way to fix it, but my methods are Linux only with specific tools (I split out the video and audio, chop 1/4 of a second from the start of the audio and reconstruct the whole thing). Takes a while to complete, but produces perfect results.
After that, this T39 just cannot be brought out of sync at all.

Anyone find another way to fix this maybe using another Xvid encoder or something ?

I suspect its the whole dual core thing, I think they must have hardware decoding both streams in parallel, which is great, but their player doesn't pay attention to the audio delay field encoded into an AVI.
